I Love this cover the rivals are back … Yum Yum

August 27, 2008

Rumored rivals Shannen Doherty and Jennie Garth lock arms on the new cover of Entertainment Weekly...

Mmm, A blast from the past I use to love these gals. The reunited-at-last pair will dish on their rocky past, unlikely reunion and why the new show shocks even them! The cover feature with Shanne, 37, and Jennie, 36, will later appear on EW.com

There was almost a comfort in knowing that I was getting to work with somebody who had been on the original with me and gone through the same experiences,” Shannen recently told Radar. “Like, ‘Okay we’ve been through the war together already.’ I never even gave any thought to it being awkward. I know how much I’ve grown up since then. I would assume that she’s grown up the same amount.”

90210 premieres @ 8PM ET/PT on Tuesday, Sept. 2 on The CW.

I cannot wait, the other younger cast members just seem boring, sob sob Luke Perry is not rejoining the cast … oooh who will be the bad Beverly Hills Boy??

Minimalism is under-rated!

August 14, 2008

Hi all, I’ve been posting all my goodies (that I never wear but still have tags attached) on Ebay and the whole thing is so time consuming. Just today I have received 5 questions such as – do you post to Bulgaria and how much would postage be then?, Can I buy it now?, what are the measurements of the jacket etc. etc. I love faux fur and I have loads that I don’t wear so I loaded it.

I just really need some space as it feels as if the whole apartment has become overrun with clothing and shoes and my boyfriend jokes that he’ll need to move out soon. The second bedroom has become my walk in wardrobe and then I also have a dressing room next to my bedroom so I can understand how we might want to use the space more constructively.

What is a fashionista to do?

What I find really interesting is how I love clothing but when it comes to decorating the apartment I am very into minimalist looks and then I stumbled across this article on Carine Roitfeld’s home and we both have similar minimalistic loves in terms of home decorating. However I would have gone for more white and more of a retro feel with quirky and showcase items to attract attention.

Carine Roitfeld’s home is featured in New Paris Interiors which features a seven page look at the apartment she shares with her partner Christian Restoin and has used as a backdrop for a few of her editorials. The space is clean and light colored which is in contrast to all the black she usually wears.

Fashion Irony!

Fashion Reality – the Feathered Look is HOT!

August 11, 2008

The editor of French Vogue keeps it real with ‘fashion reality’ introducing the feathered look, this jacket featured looks similar to the Burberry jacket and the Mui Mui coat Mary Kate Olsen fell in love with when doing her Elle shoot! Viva la French Vogue!

Kate Moss Looks Unpretty on the Cover of Vogue!

Kate Moss Looks Un-pretty!

Kate Moss Looks Un-pretty!

The August edition is the Ageless edition which profiles stylish and/or aspirational women of all ages. But what got my attention is how haggard Kate Moss looks without her hair in her face and harsh make up! Kate ends up looking tired and old which is quiet ironic since it’s suppose to be the Ageless Edition!

The most exciting part of this edition is the editors’ personal style:“it’s perhaps the most instructive portfolio we’ve ever put together… (it’s about) looking on-trend and beyond trend and totally themselves”. Forget “timeless classics every woman must have that she can wear for ever and a day” we want to be “on trend” yet “beyond trend” while still being clued into our own style!

Numero’s first August Edition in Korea!

The magazine’s first August issue in Korea

The magazine’s first August issue in Korea

Brunette’s may end up marrying more billionaires than blondes but the latest issue of Numero Korea shows that blondes still give brunettes a run for their money as far as the Icy Cool Blonde image is concerned. Model Sasha Pivovarova rocks their August cover. I heart the dark black eyeliner worn with  black tube dress, it’s simply minimalistic perfection for a blonde. This cover makes me yearn for my inner blonde!

So back to the magazine, this is the magazine’s first August issue and to celebrate they recruited world renown photographer Camille Vivier to shoot the fashion editorial featuring Yoon Eun Hye (actress and model) and jetted off to France’s L’ Hotel, St. Germain, where the famous writer Oscar Wilde once resided.

J –Lo Vs. Bee Shaffer – dress in between the lines!

August 6, 2008

J –Lo Vs. Bee Shaffer!

It’s all about the Oscar De Le Renta summer frock….

J-Lo found it difficult to fit into this Oscar De Le Renta summer dress and during her Elle Shoot assistants closed the dress with some help from tape and rope. While the wispy Bee Shaffer, daughter of American Vogue editor (Anna Wintour) seemed to have no trouble fitting into the Oscar De Le Renta frock and coincidently wore the dress just weeks after J – Lo had so much trouble squeezing into it  …

What are your thoughts was Anna Wintour proving a point by sourcing the dress for her daughter to show rival Elle Mag that she the Vogue gals are the most chic of all, or was it just a coincident?

French Vogue creative stylist Marie – Amelie Sauve styled this editorial for Vogue. We heart the chiffon purple Chloe dress, boots and tights combo. And my heart skips a beat for this deliciously chic and simply beautiful Burberry feathered coat.

While Vogue Nippon dished out this decadent display of eye candy. CoCo Rocha models a fantastically girlie Rodarte outfit with Hermes Birkin bag – essential accessory for any fashionista of note!!

The pink balloons and school children all in a row are youth full and cute and their stillness contrasts with the movement of the model and her exaggerated steps, she looks like she could be walking on air. The Birkin bag looks so chic and such a classic.

Welcome to Fashion Reality the long time coming anti-fur backlash as featured in French Vogue

July 31, 2008

Anti –Fur Backlash featuring Raquel Zimmermann

Fur is always controversial and the French Editor of Vogue knows what she’s doing when she created this editorial piece…  it’s daring, sexy and racy and it’s been a long time coming…  Welcome to Fashion Reality the long time coming anti-fur backlash as featured in French Vogue, photographs by Mario Testino (who else) and featuring Raquel Zimmermann and styled by Carine Roitfeld (La Editor and Style Connoisseur) for the August 2008 issue of Vogue Paris … Viva Carine Roitfeld! The editorial creates powerful images of woman fur lovers that lash back at anti – fur protesters with camera shots to enhance the frame and dominance of femininity with a polished stylised look, there’s a whiff of 80’s glam to this shoot, the glossy red lips scream … I’m a power blonde 80’s ball crusher cum man eater…  other shots are of semi nude models in cupboards with only their skyscraper heels with only their fur to protect their modesty the models look positively Lolita in them… Source: Almost Fashionable (for a fashionista’s love of fur) & Fashion Mag Daily (for more pics)

Has the time come to create a virtual International Best Dressed List within the Fashion Blogging Community?

July 29, 2008

Bruni-Sarkozy appears in the September issue of Vanity Fair with a front cover shot by renowned photographer Annie Leibovitz.Bruni married the French president after a three-month romance that began when they met at a Paris dinner party

Some people are born to be Fashion conscious (here’s looking at the Goldsmith’s & Lauder’s of the world) it was not decided by them personality per se it’s something that was beyond their control an extra bonus if you wish it sort landed simply and softly into their privileged laps like front row tickets to the Christian Dior show or the LV bag that they sling casually over their shoulders. They come from a legacy of style and grace where opulence and decadence reside and their clothing is simply an extension of that privilege. (Nearly 20% of Vanity Fair’s best dress list consists of Royalty!)

Then there’s those that are more interesting the individuals that are the fashion lovers, movers, shakers and makers of the fashion industry those that used their passion with such force that they created fashion movements, revolutions or looks that will always inspire us or be used as a knowledge base for further exciting designs.

These individuals serve as reference for What is? What was and What can be?

Here’s looking at YSL for introducing the tuxedo suit for women, here’s looking at CoCo Chanel for making the tan chic and the LBD a statement piece. Here’s looking at Dior’s revolutionary silhouette – the small shoulders, voluptuously curved torso with nipped – in waist and long full skirts. Here’s looking at the unnamed designer (to my knowledge) who created the stiletto heel in Italy in the 1950’s.

Real style is created though the love and desire for fashion, a list is just an exercise in who’s the flavor of the month or in this case flavor of the year.

I think that the time has come to create a virtual International Best Dressed List within the fashion blogging community. This idea really makes sense to me so much so that my keyboard has a life of it’s own….

Wow there’s no stopping this idea…

Criteria could be as follows:

·         Criteria for entry – to have your own personal fashion blog that is updated regularly with fashion postings and pictures of that illustrate the blogger’s fashion style and dress sense – these photographs will be used for the basis of judging the list.

·         The judging will be done solely on fashion and dress sense and not aesthetics of the individual, however the individual should dress in a way that highlights their best features and expresses their personality.

·         Accessories can also be photographed and included and photographs should only consist of photographs taken by the blogger thereby eliminating unfair advantage of using for example a BF that also happens to be a professional photographer and/or experienced photoshop genius.

·         Judging will not be based on how many designer labels are cramped into a blog instead it’s about how chic the blogger looks for their personal fashion budget!

·         Perhaps different categories could be established for example. Rock chic, vintage style ect.??? This allows for acknowledgement and celebration of different styles.

Keep it Chic
